X.25 PVCs Between Passport 4400 Units

For an X.25 PVC between two Passport 4400 units, an entry in the PVC definition table could be as follows:

Local Passport Unit

Source Port

Source LCN

Destination Port

Destination LCN

IfIndex 51 (virtual port)

1

IfIndex 161 (physical port)

1

Remote Passport Unit

Source Port

Source LCN

Destination Port

Destination LCN

IfIndex 51 (virtual port)

1

IfIndex 161 (physical port)

1

Each unit binds an LCN on a local physical port to an LCN on a virtual X.25 port connected to the remote unit. The following illustration shows the PVC setup (a PVC that connects a local physical port to a remote virtual port).

In the example shown above, LCN 1 on port IfIndex 159 (packet layer IfIndex 161) is bound to LCN 1 on virtual port 51 for both units. The devices attached to the physical ports of both units should expect the designated LCNs to be used as PVCs.
