The Ping utility allows you to test a connection between two nodes in a network. After you have configured the Passport 4400 for IP or IPX routing (see Configuring LAN Services), you can enter the ping command, followed by the IP address of the destination with which you wish to communicate. The Ping program tests the reachability of the destination by issuing an echo request and waiting for a reply.
