Telnet Utility

The Passport 4400 allows remote access to the CLI via the TELNET protocol. You can run TELNET on a workstation and access any Passport 4400 that is on the same IP subnet, or any Passport 4400 that has a static route configured from the workstation to the IP subnet of the Passport 4400. For information regarding IP configuring, see Configuring LAN Services.

Note

Caution: When using TELNET to access the CLI of a remote Passport 4400, do not perform a default reset. All configured IP information is erased during a default reset, prohibiting any further TELNET sessions until the Passport 4400 is reconfigured locally.

The diagram below shows several TELNET possibilities.

Telnet Workstation 1 can access each of the Passport 4400s as follows:

Passport 4400 #1 - telnet 192.168.38.1

Passport 4400 #2 - telnet 200.202.37.1

Telnet Workstation 2 can access each of the Passport 4400s as follows:

Passport 4400 #1 - telnet 200.202.38.1

Passport 4400 #2 - telnet 192.168.37.1

For the procedure to access telnet through the Configurator and CLI, see Using the Tools.
