Subject: 1.0.1 Patch Release for Accelar is available

Product: All Accelar platforms

Description:

The Accelar software patch release 1.0.1 has been released to the field. This bulletin identifies why the patch version was needed and what was fixed.

Discussion:

The primary reason the patch was developed was to solve a problem with the Intel flash cards, that are used in the external PCMCIA slot of the CPU Card (SSF). They were not being recognized by the switch when present. Intel had added additional manufacturing code information to the PCMCIA, which was not recognized by the Accelar 1.0 software. Consequently, the Accelar software would not mount the PCMCIA and it was not recognized. The part number of the Intel card has not changed (iMC004FLSC-10).

A fix was developed for this problem and is in this patch release. Engineering has taken the opportunity to release other bug fixes along with the PCMCIA fix. Here is a listing of the bug fixes that are contained in 1.0.1:

1) Erroneous error message is issued when the user deletes dynamic IP routes via Device Manager. The error message is: "rcIpDeleteStaticRoute: unable to find Static Route Rec". This is now fixed. (#1612)

2) Make the CLI help commands consistent. (#1582)

3) Fixed bug in chGo: do not check errno unless the syscall actually failed! (??)

4) Routing on a trunk port does not work under some circumstances. (#1614)

5) Fixed rcGetSwRel() in main/init.c so that it works correctly under the new directory structure. (??)

6) Added support for new PCMCIA card type 0xaaaa. (??)

7) Discard frames addressed to any of the reserved IP addresses that are received on a port in the BLOCKING state. (*1586)

8) IP protocol VLAN with static members doesn't work correctly after reboot. (#1636)

9) Send tagged BPDUs with a priority of 7. (??)

10) Fixed a bug in VLSM, when learning a longer mask then the current mask, we sometimes add an incorrect entry into the ARU table. (??)

11) Do not redirect RIPv2 and OSPF packets to the CP port unless RIPv2 and/or OSPF have been enabled. (#1698)

12) Disabled the spin-wait loop in squid3_pioTx(). (??)

13) Issuing the command, "vlan delete <vid>" from the CLI, causes a machine check. (#1718)

14) First Appletalk vlan will get corrupted when second Appletalk vlan is added. (#1725)

15) Fixed a problem with OPSF, where an interface configured for router priority 0 doesn't immediately go to the DR-Other state (#1049).

Resolution:

The patch is available on the WEB, under the Customer Service Software Services URL listed below. To install the patch you must first install the Boot Monitor Updater 1.0.1 patch file. It is located with the 1.0.1 runtime patch code. To update the Boot Monitor code, simply boot off the file. You will need a console connection, to acknowledge the installation of the Boot Monitor code. This can only be done on the console port. Do not interrupt the Updater utility once it starts, it will only take a few seconds to perform the update. Then you can copy down the 1.0.1 runtime patch and boot off of it, or perform a network boot. To verify that the patch version is running, you can issue the CLI command "sys show sw" or use the Device Manager -> Edit -> Chassis -> Boot window.
