Inserting last I/O module into a Accelar 1200 chassisNumber: CSB-9802003Date: 2/25/98Subject: Inserting last I/O module into a Accelar 1200 chassisProduct: XLR1200Description:Bay Networks have discovered a potential issue when inserting an I/O module into the last unoccupied slot in an Accelar 1200 chassis. Discussion:When installing all eight cards into the Accelar 1200 chassis (2 Silicon Switched Fabric cards and six I/O modules), there may not be enough vertical tolerance to insert the final I/O module. The beryllium EMI gasket on the chassis located under slot 8 may not allow for the proper vertical clearance. When installing the last card in a fully populated 1200 chassis and you incur resistance as the module is being inserted then you will need to remove the EMI gasket. If no resistance is incurred then there is no need to remove the EMI gasket. Resolution:To remove the EMI beryllium gasket follow these steps 1. See diagram figure 1 on page 2 of this CSB. 2. Turn power off and remove the AC power cord. 3. Remove chassis retaining bar, cover plates, I/O modules and SSF modules. 4. Using a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the EMI Gasket from the chassis located on the bottom of slot 8. 5. Reinstall the I/O modules and SSF modules starting with slot 1 and work your way down.
